Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered the recently established National Export Development Board (NEDB) to meet thrice a month to address all challenges faced by the export industry.
The premier’s latest directive is in line with the government’s efforts for achieving an ambitious export target of $31.125 billion during the ongoing fiscal year.

NEDB has already convened its inaugural meeting on 2 August headed by PM Imran Khan. During the meeting, the PM assured the business community of rendering maximum support by taking ownership of the board.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce also apprised the premier about the country’s export performance during the FY 2020-21.

They briefed the PM that the country’s exports are divided into three major categories; textiles, agro, and non-agro products. The exports for textile products during FY 2020-21 were projected at $15.380 billion while the export target for FY 2021-22 has been set at $20 billion.
The exports for agro products were projected at $4.341 billion for FY21 while the export target for FY22 has been set at $4.858 billion. The exports for non-agro products were projected at $5.578 billion for FY21 while the export target for FY22 has been set at $6.357 billion.
