Finance Minister’s Assets, Liabilities Are Now public

The Cabinet Division has made the details of the Minister for Finance’s assets and liabilities public.

Documents available with ProPakistani show that Minister Shaukat Tarin owns Rs. 175 million in immovable properties in South Karachi.

He has also purchased shares worth Rs. 3.321 billion, which includes Rs. 3.320 billion in Silkbank, Rs. 0.125 million in the Arabian Sea, and Rs. 3810 in Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). His other assets include Rs. 20.5 million advance for property, Rs. 499.1 million receivables, and Rs. 440.2 million Silkbank TFCs, according to the document.

He also has eight bank accounts in different banks in which he disclosed an amount of Rs. 15.4 million.

He has obtained loans worth Rs. 3.390 billion from Sindh Bank, Silkbank, Bank Islami, Habib Bank, Habib Metropolitan, and the Bank of Punjab.

The minister mentioned Rs. 268.1 million unsecured loans in his assets and liabilities. He has taken loans of Rs. 10.5 million from Erum Tarin, Rs. 21.01 million from Razalia Tarin, Rs. 22.6 million from Salman Tarin, Rs. 12.5 million from Naila Rubbi, and Rs. 1.5 million from Saeed Ahmad. Moreover, he has also borrowed Rs. 200 million from Arif Habib, and revealed that he has to pay a debt of Rs. 814.15 million to Pearl Securities.

Minister Tarin also owns three luxury vehicles worth Rs. 7.92 million — a Mercedes Benz, a Toyota Land Cruiser, and a Suzuki Alto.

The document shows that he even has Rs. 10 million worth of jewellery besides Rs. 128 million cash in hand.

Documents state that his wife Razalia Shaukat Tarin has Rs. 36.83 million worth of assets that include Rs. 21.02 million receivable, Rs. 0.5 million precious possession, Rs. 0.5 million household/personal effect, and Rs. 6.4 million cash in hand. The document disclosed that the minister had mentioned an amount of Rs. 8.3 million in his wife’s three bank accounts.
