Facebook Confirms Ban on Pro-Taliban Content

Facebook has reportedly confirmed an all-out ban on ‘Taliban-related content’ on all the platforms and apps within its ecosystem.

The social media giant has also dedicated a team of prominent Afghan experts to monitor and remove content linked to the group that it considers a terrorist organization.

A Facebook employee told BBC:

The Taliban is sanctioned as a terrorist organization under US law and we have banned them from our services under our Dangerous Organization policies. This means we remove accounts maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban and prohibit praise, support, and representation of them.

This policy applies to all Facebook-owned applications, including WhatsApp and its flagship social media network Instagram.

While Facebook has entered a new norm of aggressively regulating online content, apps like Twitter and Reddit that also fall in the networking bracket are yet to address the subject at the same level of conformity.
