PAF Transfers Security Arrangement of Aeronautical Complex And Minhas Airbase to SPU

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has transferred the security arrangements of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the PAF Minhas Airbase in Kamra to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) of the Punjab Police on account of the worsening security situation in the neighboring areas and the security threats to the foreign workers in Pakistan.

The decision was made in a meeting that was convened by PAF Squadron Leader Sheraz Wahab Khan and SPU DIG Rao Muneer Ahmed Zia at the SPU Headquarters on Monday.

They discussed the deteriorating international security situation and guaranteed foolproof security arrangements for the expatriates working on various projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and privately in Pakistan.

A senior official familiar with the development remarked that the SPU is already providing security to the Chinese nationals working on various CPEC and other projects across Punjab, and other foreigners must be protected by the SPU as well.

DIG Zia said,

We are closely analyzing rapidly changing security situation across the world and under the leadership of Punjab IGP Inam Ghani, the SPU would strive to display an excellent performance for the safety of the foreigners.

Additionally, Squadron Leader Khan acknowledged the SPU’s role in ensuring the security of the CPEC and non-CPEC projects. He said that he firmly believes in the abilities of the SPU officers and hopes that they will efficiently provide security arrangements to the foreigners working in Pakistan.
