Overseas Pakistani Students Will be Given Admissions on Priority in Punjab

Overseas Pakistani students will be given admission in public sector universities in Punjab on a priority basis and will get up to 20% fee concession.

The development resulted from a meeting between Vice-Chairperson (VC) Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission (POPC) Waseem Akhtar and Punjab’s Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun.

During the meeting, VC POPC briefed the Minister with the complaints of overseas Pakistanis related to the Higher Education Department (HED) and requested him to resolve them at the earliest.

He said overseas Pakistanis remit their hard-earned money back home and play an important role in the economic growth of the country. Therefore, it is our responsibility to provide relief to them.

Appreciating their efforts, the Minister issued directions for the complaint resolution of overseas Pakistani students and assured VC POPC that their HED-related issues will now be addressed on a priority basis.

VC POPC apprised the Minister of the steps taken for overseas Pakistani students under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar.

He said that CM Punjab had constituted a committee led by Additional Chief Secretary to recognize the services of overseas Pakistanis and ensure their due representation in all departments of Punjab.
