Punjab HED to Award Best-Performing University VCs Based on New KPIs

Higher Education Department of Punjab has collaborated with the Punjab Higher Education Commission to develop Key Performance Indicators for the vice-chancellors of universities. These indicators will be used to gauge the vice-chancellors and award the best-performing ones accordingly.

The Secretary of the provincial Higher Education Department, Syed Javed Iqbal Bokhari, addressed the inaugural session of the five-day Leadership and Management Training program for the VCs of the public and private universities in the province and emphasized the role of the VCs in improving the performances of the universities.

He added that it is necessary to transform universities into centers of excellence in education, research, and public service.

The Secretary said that the VCs need to strive to improve the standards of the universities and bring them on par with international standards in order to compete with the higher education institutions around the world.

He said that the government has prepared the Universities Model Act under its reformative agenda in the higher education sector to synchronize and systemize the operations of the universities in the province.

He commended the efforts of the Punjab Higher Education Commission in launching the second batch of the vice-chancellors leadership and management program that will help the VCs to develop new insight for better planning and development.
