National Assembly Committee Recommends Approval of Pakistan Institute of Education Bill

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture recommended on Tuesday that ‘The Pakistan Institute of Education Bill, 2021’ be passed by the National Assembly to boost research and development activities.

The twentieth meeting of the National Assembly Committee on Education was held under the chairmanship of Mian Najeeb ud Din Awaisi.

The Additional Secretary of the Federal Education and Professional Training Division, Mohiyudin Ahmed, briefed the committee about the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) and said that it is an institution of excellence meant for extensive research, assessment, training, and management of information system in education.

He said that the PIE will develop a long-term agenda for education, research, and development with national consensus.

The Additional Secretary also spoke about the main functions of the institute that will include comprehensive data collection, analysis, and reporting at both national and international levels for policymaking, planning, and educational reforms.

The committee deferred ‘The Pakistan Global Institute Bill, 2021’ (Government Bill) and ‘The NCS-Institute of Sciences Bill, 2021’ until its next meeting.
