Tarin Encourages Pakistani-Americans to Utilize Roshan Digital Accounts

The Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin, has encouraged Pakistani-Americans to utilize the facilities presented by Roshan Digital Accounts (RDAs).

He requested this during a panel discussion hosted by the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York on ‘Roshan Digital Accounts, benefits for Non-Resident Pakistanis.’ The discussion panel also included Dr. Reza Baqir, Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and Dr. S. Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, in his keynote address, reaffirmed the government’s resolve to provide seamless financial services to the diaspora spread throughout the globe. He also explained the various reforms that the government is undertaking to ensure the sustainable and inclusive development of Pakistan’s economy.

Dr. Reza Baqir, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, briefed about the Roshan Digital Account initiative by the government of Pakistan and encouraged ex-pats to take advantage of the scheme. He also assured the members of the diaspora that innovation in the banking sector to facilitate overseas Pakistanis is a foremost institutional priority for the State Bank of Pakistan.

Dr. Zaidi stated that the economy of Pakistan had been reinvigorated with multiple industries, including the Information Technology (IT) sector witnessing a boom. He further highlighted the recent developments in the higher education sector.

The event was attended by a large number of Pakistani-Americans. These included professionals from the financial sector, IBA Karachi’s Alumni, and many other community members from various professional backgrounds.

Later on, the Consulate General New York hosted a dinner with Pakistani American professionals. While speaking at the occasion, the Adviser Finance stated that the diaspora is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. He urged the overseas Pakistanis to open Roshan Digital Accounts and spoke at length about the several products being offered under the initiative. Pakistani-American professionals, including bankers, investors, and others, thanked the government for the landmark initiatives for the diaspora and underscored their resolve to continue to work for Pakistan.

In his concluding remarks, the Finance Adviser commended the valuable contribution of Pakistani Americans and affirmed full support and facilitation at the occasion.
