The civil administration of district Rawalpindi has announced two holidays for all educational institutions on account of the prevailing law and order situation in the city.
According to media reports, all public and private schools and colleges will remain closed on 8 and 9 November. The decision on whether to extend the closure will be taken later.
The development comes after the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) gave a call to protest to its workers in the aftermath of the assassination attempt on Imran Khan during the long march near Wazirabad.
Chairman PTI and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, sustained bullet wounds on his legs while several party leaders were also injured. One PTI worker, unfortunately, lost his life in the incident.
Last month, Islamabad’s schools and colleges observed a holiday after PTI workers took to the streets in the federal capital after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference.
In order to maintain law and order in the federal capital, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police also placed diversions in many areas of the city.
