Update: Internet services have been fully restored across the country. A PTCL spokesperson said, “The cut in International Submarine Cable AAE-1 has been repaired. PTCL services have been fully restored across the country”.
A fault in one of the international submarine cables was earlier reported resulting in degraded internet services across the country.
A statement issued by a PTCL spokesperson at the time said that internet services have been partially impacted in Pakistan and some customers may face minor service degradation.
“This is due to a cable-cut in the International Submarine Cable AAE-1 in Egypt. PTCL in conjunction with the International Submarine Consortium is working to fully restore internet services on priority,” it added. The spokesperson said that PTCL has ample bandwidth on alternate cables to cater to data needs.
In a message to its customers, Nayatel said that customers might be experiencing slow or no internet.
“You might be experiencing slow/no internet due to degradation in our uplink provider. Our teams are already in coordination with relevant stakeholders for earliest resolution. Inconvenience is regretted,”, the message reads.
