Govt Restarts PM Laptop Scheme

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the revival of a laptop distribution program for exceptional students on Friday.

During the launch ceremony of the laptop program, the prime minister reminisced about his time as Chief Minister of Punjab when he distributed hundreds of thousands of laptops to deserving students.

He emphasized the significant impact these laptops had on students, especially during the Covid pandemic, enabling them to attend online classes from the comfort of their homes and even pursue freelance work to support themselves.

The prime minister highlighted that as Chief Minister of Punjab, he also initiated the Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF), which provided scholarships to talented young individuals. He proudly shared that the beneficiaries of these programs were now serving the country in various fields, including health, IT, and engineering.

Promoting his mission to empower every youth, the prime minister disclosed that he had secured approval for an additional 100,000 laptops for the current fiscal year, in addition to the 100,000 approved in the previous financial year. He stressed that the laptop distribution process would strictly adhere to merit-based criteria and would not tolerate any form of influence.

To support youth from rural areas, the government has allocated Rs 5 billion for agricultural loans and an additional Rs 5 billion for skill-based training programs.

The prime minister’s commitment to providing laptops to the youth aims to equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in their respective fields and contribute to the nation’s progress.
