In a distressing development, it has been disclosed that three young men from Hyderabad were trafficked to Burma after being deceived with false job promises, as reported by their families to the media on Friday. The families of Kashif Hussain, Faraz, and Sheroz Khan, all residents of Hyderabad, have informed the Pakistani ambassador in Burma through a letter about this grievous situation.
According to the families, the three youths embarked on a trip on February 19, 2024, during which they were lured by an agent with job opportunities in Burma and subsequently sold upon arrival. Upon reaching Burma, their passports and money were confiscated, and they were subjected to physical abuse. The families have urgently appealed for their rescue and safe return to Pakistan.
This incident underscores a disturbing trend where innocent individuals, particularly in Pakistan’s challenging economic climate, are being deceived with fraudulent job offers. Earlier in April, Karachi police rescued a woman from illegal confinement after she too was lured with a job offer via social media and held against her will in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 3-A. The woman had been subjected to severe mistreatment during her captivity, prompting the police intervention that led to her rescue along with several others.
