The district administration launched a major operation against encroachments, reclaiming land that had belonged to the Sikh community and had been illegally occupied for 77 years.
This significant operation took place on Zafarwal Road under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zulqarnain and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Muhammad Iqbal.
The land in question, spanning eight canals and featuring a 500-pond area of Ranjit Singh’s Gurdwara Babe-Di-Bari, had been seized by a land mafia in 1947 and converted into a cattle pen, with half a dozen shops and a political party office established there. The encroachments were removed using heavy machinery.
Municipal Officer Regulation Rana Saqlain, anti-encroachment staff, local police officials, and officials from the Revenue Department participated in the operation.
According to the Revenue Department’s records, ADC Revenue Muhammad Iqbal informed the media that the land rightfully belonged to the Sikh community.
