The Punjab government has announced an ad hoc relief and pension increase for government employees in the province.
A notification from the finance department on Friday detailed a 25% increase in running basic pay for employees in grades BS-1 to BS-16 and a 20% increase for those in grades BS-17 to BS-22. This relief will be effective from July 1, 2024.
The finance department also confirmed a 15% increase in net pensions for all civil pensioners of Punjab, starting from July 1, 2024.
Previously, the federal Ministry of Finance announced salary and pension increases for federal government employees. Employees in grades 1 to 16 will receive a 25% salary hike, while those in grades 17 to 22 will see a 20% raise, effective from July 1, 2024.
Furthermore, federal retirees will get a 15% pension increase. This adjustment includes both civil and armed forces retirees, and employees retiring on or after July 1, 2024, will also benefit from this pension increment.
