Intense Heatwave Expected in Karachi: PMD

The Met Office has predicted a heatwave for Karachi on Tuesday and Wednesday (Muharram 9 and 10).

The weather on July 16 and 17 is expected to be hot and humid, possibly rising to 39 degrees Celsius due to a halt in sea breezes caused by low pressure.

In the districts of Thatta and Sujawal, temperatures could go up to 41 degrees Celsius. Other parts of Sindh will also face hot and humid conditions.

Rainfall with thunderstorms is likely in Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, and Sanghar. Karachi might see some drizzle on July 16.

From July 18, monsoon currents are expected to enter the city, potentially bringing heavy rainfall on July 19 and 20.

In separate news, Karachi’s mayor, Murtaza Wahab, vowed on Sunday to prevent future flooding in the city. Speaking to the media, Wahab stated that for the first time in 20 years, additional water is being brought into Karachi from Hub Dam.

He criticized former mayor Waseem Akhtar for halting the city’s bus services, announcing plans to revive them.
