Mohammad Haris has been appointed captain of the white-ball team of Pakistan Shaheens for the upcoming series in Darwin, Australia.
Harris, who previously led the team to victory in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo, will now captain the side in two 50-over matches and a team Top End T20 series from August 4 to 18.
The Shaheens are in Darwin for two four-day matches against Bangladesh ‘A’ on July 19-22 and July 26-29. Following these matches, they will face Northern Territory in a 50-over game on August 4 and Bangladesh ‘A’ on August 6, before the T20 series begins on August 9.
The Shaheens have made seven changes from their red-ball squad in preparation for the white-ball matches. Abdul Faseeh, Arafat Minhas, Arif Yaqoob, Jahandad Khan, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Imran Jnr, and Usman Khan will join the team, replacing Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Ali, Mubasir Khan, Tayyab Tahir, and Umar Amin.
This marks the second consecutive year Pakistan Shaheens will participate in the Darwin series. Last year, they were defeated by NT Strike in the Top End T20 Series final but secured victories in the One-day matches against PNG by 224 runs and Northern Strike by 84 runs.
The team hopes to build on their previous performances under the leadership of Mohammad Haris.
