Karachi Police Announces Ashura Traffic Plan

A traffic management plan for the 9th and 10th of Muharram has been issued in Karachi. The primary Muharram procession will begin at Nishtar Park and proceed to Hussainiya Iraniyan Imam Bargah, following its traditional route.

To accommodate the procession, no small or large vehicles will be allowed beyond Guruminder Chowk, with all such traffic diverted to Bahadur Yar Jung Road Soldier Bazar. Access to MA Jinnah Road will be restricted to vehicles displaying a sticker on their windshield, indicating permission to join the procession. These vehicles can enter through the Shahrah Qaidin Society light signal.

For security reasons, MA Jinnah Road will be closed from Gurmandir to Tower. Commuters from Nazimabad can reach their destinations via Lasbela Chowk, Nishtar Road, and Garden. Those from Liaquatabad can head towards Central Jail by turning left at Lasbela Chowk from Tin Hatti. People traveling to People’s Chowring from Hasan Square should use Nishtar Road from Kashmir Road to Shahrah Quaideen and the Jail Flyover from Tin Hatti.

Commuters from Shahrah Faisal, Shahrah leaders, and exhibition attendees can navigate via Kashmir Road to the right of the society light signal. Travelers from Jamshed Road towards Gurumandir MA Jinnah Road can use Bahadur Yar Jung Road Soldier Bazar from Gurumandir. Those heading from Garden Zoo to MA Jinnah Road should use Uncle Saria to Gul Plaza on the right and Coast Guard Holy Family Hospital on the left.

Participants joining the procession from Nazimabad should travel to Lasbela, Garden Jamaat Khana, and Soldier Bazar No. 3 light signal. Participants from Liaquatabad, Tin Hatti, and Jehangir Road can join the exhibition procession at Gurmand and society light signal. Those from Gulistan Johar and Gulshan Iqbal should use University Road, Old Vegetable Market, Kashmir Road, and Society Light Signal to join the exhibition procession.

Vehicles distributing sabil or niaz will have entry points at Tower and Memon Masjid, and no parking will be allowed on the procession route.

Heavy traffic heading towards MA Jinnah Road from Super Highway and Gulbarg will be diverted from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2. This traffic will then proceed from Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Shershah to Maripur, and use the same route for return. Access from the National Highway to the city will be via Shahrah Faisal, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Sulaiman Road, Hasan Square, Liaquatabad No. 10, Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, and Shershah to Maripur, with the same route used for the return journey.
