This Team From NUST is Representing Pakistan at Formula Student UK 2024

Formula Student UK 2024, a prestigious event where university students participate to showcase their engineering and design skills, is being held at the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom.

The participants design and build high-performance Formula-1-style race cars, at the competition, which began on July 17th and will run until July 20th.

Over 60 teams from around the world are participating, with Pakistan being represented by a single team from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).  NUST Formula Student Team has been participating in this competition since 2012, consistently showcasing their engineering prowess.

This year, their car NAS’24 stands as a testament to their innovation and dedication. The team designed their car in partnership with electric car maker Tesla. It uses a Honda CBR 600 F4i motorcycle engine in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, paired with a 60-volt Lithium-ion battery pack. Tesla has provided the battery management system for the car.

Last year at Formula Student UK 2023 Concept Class, the team took 1st position in the Lap Time Simulation event, which evaluates a car’s handling capabilities and how quickly it completes a simulated race track, and 6th position in the design and cost categories which assess the engineering and cost-effectiveness of the vehicle.

  • So the NUST team will represent Pakistan at the mentioned event in the UK. No other university can go there. NUST is a special university of the special people, run by the special people for the children of the special people.

I have read about such innovations by NUST in the past. What is the use of such innovations when at the national level, other than bombs and missiles, you have not been able to make even a ‘tich button’?

  • Can NUST students come up with some thing useful for people of Pakistan? They consume about 70% budget allocated for higher education. All they do is to go abroad after completing education. Try to find NUST students in the industry and you will hardly find them in the local industry. How long will we keep preparing these students of elites to go abroad at the expanse of common Pakistanies.

  • And they will seek illegal residence in the UK and never come back!
    A popular trend among NUSTIANS
