Airlines, Media, Banks Affected by Worldwide Microsoft Windows Outage

A BSoD (blue screen of death) error has currently taken the world by storm after the latest update by US-based cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike, causing Microsoft Windows servers to crash for millions of users worldwide.

Users across the US, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Canada, the Czech Republic, and many other countries have been affected by the issue. People have taken to social media platforms like X and Reddit to report a BSoD error on the platform.

Windows OS devices are logging out users. Services like banks’ software, airline ticketing, news media servers, and digital payments at supermarkets have been disrupted. Thousands have missed their flights in affected regions while essential services remain unresponsive at the time of filing this report.

The issue has yet to be reported for Pakistani users.

“We have widespread reports of BSoDs on windows hosts, occurring on multiple sensor versions. Investigating cause. TA will be published shortly,” a user posted on Reddit.

CrowdStrike has acknowledged the issue and said in a short statement that its engineers are actively working to resolve it and assured users that there is no need to open a support ticket. The company has promised to provide updates once the issue is resolved.

CrowdStrike Falcon, the company’s flagship product that caused the error, offers a range of cybersecurity solutions including endpoint protection, detection and response, threat intelligence, incident response, Microsoft Windows security features, and security updates and patches.
