KP Govt Increases BRT Peshawar Ticket Price

Authorities in Peshawar have raised fares for the city’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, increasing the cost by Rs5 for each stop along the route. The new minimum fare is Rs20, and the maximum fare has been set at Rs60. This change will impact all passengers using the BRT service in the provincial capital.

In addition to the updated BRT fare structure, Peshawar authorities have introduced a 50% discount for citizens aged 60 and over. Senior citizens will receive special cards to use this discount when traveling on the BRT system. Furthermore, children under 5 years old can ride the BRT for free when they are accompanied by their parents.

On the other hand, Pakistan Railways has raised passenger train fares by 1% in response to increasing petroleum prices. The fare adjustment will affect all train classes, including economy, AC standard, AC business, and AC parlor, as detailed in a recent notification from the Railways Department.

According to the notification, the fare hike will impact mail, express, and intercity trains, including those run in public-private partnerships. The new rates will be in effect from Friday, July 19, and divisional superintendents have been directed to revise the fare tables accordingly.
