Metro bus service in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has been suspended from IJP to Pak Secretariat, causing significant disruption for commuters. The suspension is part of security measures taken in response to widespread political protests.
These protests, organized by major opposition parties including Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are addressing a range of issues such as rising inflation, expensive electricity contracts, and the detention of political leaders.
Red Metro, Green line, Blue line and Electric bus services are fully suspended. However, Orange line is operational from Faiz Ahmad Faiz to N5 although Airport stop has been closed for commuters.
In anticipation of these protests, authorities have imposed Section 144, which restricts public gatherings. This has led to a heightened security presence and the decision to halt the Metro bus service in key areas of the capital.
The Metro bus service has been stopped from IJP to Pak Secretariat. While the service remains operational in Rawalpindi, running from Faizabad to Saddar, the disruption in Islamabad has inconvenienced many daily commuters who rely on the Metro bus for transportation.
