Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Rana Hassan Javaid successfully reached the summit of Gasherbrum II as part of an eleven-member international mountaineering team.
This remarkable achievement adds to the Army officer’s extensive list of mountaineering accomplishments. Among his notable feats are the summits of Mirshkar in 2018, Khuzhegang in 2020, and Golden Peak in 2021. In 2023, he attempted to climb K2 but was forced to postpone due to adverse weather conditions.
Dr. Javaid’s distinguished career extends beyond mountaineering. He joined the Army Medical Corps in 2001, specializing in surgery and later in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
The Army officer’s dedication to medicine and skill in surgery was recognized in 2015 when he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England).
Currently serving at CMH Rawalpindi, Dr. Javaid continues to balance his professional responsibilities with his passion for mountaineering.
