In a positive development for prisoners, the menu in Punjab jails has been upgraded to provide higher quality food, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Inspector General (IG) Jails Mian Farooq Nazir announced that chicken will now be served seven times a week in Punjab jails, with qorma, pulao, and karahi included in the new menu. The menu upgrade aims to ensure inmates receive 2800 to 3000 calories per day.
To enhance the flavor of curry gravies, the amount of onion, ginger, and tomato has been increased by 25 percent, Nazir added. Kasuri fenugreek has also been introduced to improve the taste of the food.
Previously, chicken was provided six times a week. The new menu has been developed with expert input to meet the required caloric intake, Nazir noted.

Poor people in Punjab have to join jails to eat Qorma, Pulao and Karahi. Criminals can enjoy more free food but poor cannot afford a karahi once in a month. A great country indeed.
I guess the current government wants to ease the time that are going to spend in jails once chairman PTI comes into power.
