Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has secretly enabled a setting that allows it to use user data to train its AI model, Grok. But the good news is that it can easily be turned off.
However, since Grok is only available to paying users, this setting is exclusive to those who have subscribed to X Premium.
If this setting is enabled, X can utilize users’ posts, interactions, and conversations with Grok to improve the AI’s capabilities. While users can disable this setting, it’s only accessible on the web.
The company has clarified that user data could be shared with its AI subsidiary, xAI. This development raises concerns about data privacy and has prompted criticism from users.
Here is how you can disable the settings.
How to Disable It
Sign in to X through your PC or laptop and head to the “Privacy and safety” button. Find “Grok” and uncheck the box for “Data Sharing”. Here is what it looks like.

Users who have deactivated the data-sharing setting can delete their previous conversations with the Grok AI.
Elon Musk recently announced that xAI, X’s AI division, had begun training its large language model, Grok, using the world’s most powerful AI training cluster.
Musk ambitiously claimed that Grok would become the most powerful AI by December 2024. However, X planned to utilize user data, including past tweets and posts, to enhance Grok’s training process.
X is not the only tech giant facing backlash over using user data to train AI models. Meta previously announced plans to use public content from Facebook and Instagram for AI training but was forced to halt these efforts due to regulatory concerns.

The “journalist” who made this article should know that grok is extremely broken and hardly works.
Also elon musk announced =/= what actually happens . He claims alot . About 98% of which never happens .
Bcz AI chips are required to process such programs/AI . Twitter doesn’t have that much Nvidia processors since they can’t buy them.
If you don’t have AI processors , how are you going to train any AI at all ?
