OpenAI Gets Its Own AI-Based Search Engine

OpenAI has launched a new AI search engine called SearchGPT. Powered by the GPT-4 model, it offers real-time information summaries and links to relevant sources. Currently, in a limited test phase with only 10,000 users, SearchGPT allows people to sign up for a waitlist.

Users can input search queries directly into the familiar ChatGPT-style interface. SearchGPT then provides summarized answers and links for further exploration.

SearchGPT goes beyond basic search by understanding the context of your queries. Users can request additional information or explore visual results like images, videos, and graphs.

OpenAI is collaborating with news outlets like The Wall Street Journal and The Associated Press to build its search database. The company also plans to incorporate SearchGPT into ChatGPT in the future.

As mentioned, OpenAI’s SearchGPT is only in its testing phase, so it is not available to everyone. For those wanting to try it out, they can join a waitlist.

It is unclear when OpenAI plans to release SearchGPT to the public. We will keep you updated in any case.

GPT 4o Mini

Earlier this month, OpenAI announced GPT 4o mini, the company’s most cost-efficient model yet with goals to make generative AI more accessible and affordable to everyone. OpenAI hopes this will significantly expand the range of applications built with AI.

Users will pay 15 cents for every million words inputted and 60 cents for every million words generated. This is a dramatic reduction compared to previous models, including a 60% price cut over GPT-3.5 Turbo.
