Internet Services Disrupted Across Pakistan [Updated]

Update: All internet services have been largely restored across the country.

Internet services are currently down across the country. The exact cause of the disruption has not yet been identified, as authorities are still assessing the situation.

A few sources have informed us that the problem is most likely related to international traffic and not limited to the local network.

Meanwhile, Meta platforms, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, are working seamlessly while other services are disrupted.

ProPakistani reached out to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for comment at the time of filing this report. More details will be shared as they become available.

When contacted, Nayatel reported that its services were not affected. Some southern cities experienced minor issues, which have since been resolved. The northern network, covering Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Faisalabad, has faced no issues.

However, some ISPs are still facing issues, while others are operating normally. This inconsistency in service disruption suggests that the problem may be isolated to specific networks or regions.

ProPakistani reached out to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for comment at the time of filing this report. It said,

Due to some fault in PTCL system, internet services in some parts of the country have suffered up to some extent. Internet/broadband users may experience degraded services during peak hours. At the moment the concerned teams are fixing the fault and PTA is monitoring the situation till internet/ broadband services are back to normal for all users.

“We confirm that PTCL network is facing data outage in various cities due to which connectivity has been affected. Our teams are actively working to resolve and rectify the issue at the earliest,” Spokesperson PTCL said in response to ProPakistani.

This is a developing story. More details will be shared as they become available.
