Internet Services Disrupted Across Pakistan [Updated]

Update: All internet services have been largely restored across the country.

Internet services are currently down across the country. The exact cause of the disruption has not yet been identified, as authorities are still assessing the situation.

A few sources have informed us that the problem is most likely related to international traffic and not limited to the local network.

Meanwhile, Meta platforms, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, are working seamlessly while other services are disrupted.

ProPakistani reached out to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for comment at the time of filing this report. More details will be shared as they become available.

When contacted, Nayatel reported that its services were not affected. Some southern cities experienced minor issues, which have since been resolved. The northern network, covering Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Faisalabad, has faced no issues.

However, some ISPs are still facing issues, while others are operating normally. This inconsistency in service disruption suggests that the problem may be isolated to specific networks or regions.

ProPakistani reached out to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for comment at the time of filing this report. It said,

Due to some fault in PTCL system, internet services in some parts of the country have suffered up to some extent. Internet/broadband users may experience degraded services during peak hours. At the moment the concerned teams are fixing the fault and PTA is monitoring the situation till internet/ broadband services are back to normal for all users.

“We confirm that PTCL network is facing data outage in various cities due to which connectivity has been affected. Our teams are actively working to resolve and rectify the issue at the earliest,” Spokesperson PTCL said in response to ProPakistani.

This is a developing story. More details will be shared as they become available.

  • cannot even watch olympics such a pathetic company ptcl is. Restore internet so atleast we can watch olympics.

  • That seems to be a lie. If the fault was with the undersea cable, how is it that other web sites are working while PTCL connections are down and sites hosted by them are unreachable?

  • Jazz is also not working in my area used to work fine but for 3 days it’s very very slow.

  • Abhi to Bari taraki honi Hai lol 😆 🤣 😂 😹

    All aboard the sinking ship

  • According to my safe guess, PTCL was installing the next generation firewall which was a key news just a few days. During testing, ISPs depending partially on PTCL were affected including Zong and Telenor which were not working in a big city. NGFW is a hell and someone at headquarter must understand that it is not necessary to reduce the speed of internet including 4G to control social media. Not every young man use social media bluntly as some may be working on serious content writing freelance services with international clients for living. Reducing or limiting internet services can’t foster international freelance services. If you can’t relief common man, at least let him earn food for his family. I am highly disappointed with current internet status in PK. It is becoming difficult to freelance day by day as internet is disconnected in day time and extremely slow in night to connect a freelance platform like Upwork for real-time collaboration.

  • Nayatel is also slow for the last 3-4 days. Something fishy is definitely happening in the backend. Some websites related to work / freelancing are terribly slow in Pakistan only.
