Xiaomi CEO Reveals When SU7 Electric Car Will Launch Internationally

Images of Xiaomi SU7 have surfaced on the streets of Paris, France. The vehicle is part of Xiaomi’s special exhibition titled “People, Cars, and Homes Full Ecology,” its presence, coinciding with the Paris Olympics, has garnered significant attention from international visitors.

The appearance of the SU7 in Paris has sparked speculation about Xiaomi’s potential entry into Europe. In response, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun stated in a live broadcast that the company aims to sell cars in Europe before 2030.

Despite SU7 not being officially sold overseas, gray market channels in various countries capitalize on the high demand, allowing dealers to make substantial profits.

Aiming to Join Top 5 Car Makers in The World

Lei Jun emphasized in his broadcast that Xiaomi’s goal is to rank among the top five car makers globally, indicating plans to expand internationally when the time is right. In the first quarter of 2024, Xiaomi’s overseas revenue accounted for more than 50% of its total income, with smartphone sales comprising over 70%.

The global fascination with the Xiaomi SU7 is evident from its display at the Pompidou Museum Block in Paris, where it has attracted significant attention. The car made its international debut earlier this year at MWC 2024, a major mobile systems industry event in Barcelona, Spain.

Gray Market Availability

Although Xiaomi does not officially export the SU7, parallel export companies have identified a lucrative opportunity.

These dealers purchase and resell the car as a second-hand vehicle in other countries, with reported profits ranging from $1,400 to $8,250 per car.
