Kia Planning to Launch New Cars in Pakistan

Lucky Motor Corp. is planning to introduce Kia’s latest range of electric vehicles (EVs) later this year, according to media reports, citing people close to the matter. The anticipated lineup includes the EV5 and EV9.

Kia had previously launched a generation of older models of the Sportage and Sorento in Pakistan. Even though the Sportage got a facelift, the latest model, available in the international markets, was not launched in Pakistan.

Kia EV5 is an electric compact crossover SUV with a range of up to 665km.

The Kia EV9, a highlight of the new range, is an all-electric SUV crafted for the modern, electrified era. Designed to accommodate 6 to 7 passengers, the EV9 combines ruggedness with sophistication, offering emission-free, connected, and autonomous mobility.

The EV9 features three rows of seating, accommodating up to seven passengers. The standard model includes seven seats, while the GT-line offers two innovative six-seat options.

Built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV9 maximizes the potential of this scalable platform. This allows for a longer wheelbase and larger battery pack, while retaining benefits like ultra-fast charging, long driving ranges, and a spacious interior. The SUV comes with a Combined Charging System (CCS) socket on the right-hand side, enabling ultra-fast charging of up to 210 kW. The multi-input charging system supports both 400V and 800V infrastructure.

Thanks to 800-volt ultra-high-speed charging, a 15-minute charge provides up to 249 km for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version and up to 226 km for the all-wheel drive (AWD) versions. Charging from 10% to 80% takes only 24 minutes, equating to 70 kWh of energy delivered to the battery. The multi-charging system allows drivers to use both 800V ultra-high-speed chargers and 400V fast chargers.

Earlier this year, the Kia EV9 won the ‘World Electric Vehicle’ and the ultimate accolade, ‘World Car of the Year’ at the 2024 World Car Awards during the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).
