Met Dept Announces Extra Long Monsoon Spell in Karachi This Week

Karachi is experiencing light and heavy rains across various areas, including Guru Mandir, Garden, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Tower, and II Chundrigar Road, offering a welcome respite from the summer heat.

The Met Department has predicted that Karachi’s weather will remain cloudy with light rain continuing into the evening. This pleasant weather is set to persist over the next five days, though heavier rain and thunderstorms are expected on Sunday.

According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, a new monsoon system will reach Karachi beginning tomorrow. This will mark the city’s fourth rain spell, expected on August 4 and 5, bringing light to moderate rain and possible thunderstorms on Sunday.

The Chief Meteorologist has predicted that Karachi will enjoy pleasant weather throughout August, with temperatures between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius. At present, the city is experiencing 28 degrees Celsius with high humidity at 87% and winds blowing at 32 km/h.

The current rain and the upcoming monsoon are set to bring extended relief to Karachi, easing the usual heat and humidity for residents.

In Islamabad, both the Met Department and the NDMA have issued multiple warnings about above-average rainfall this monsoon season. Residents nationwide are preparing for potential severe river and urban flooding.
