The 204th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Thursday, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore, approved a new policy for postgraduate programs.
The new policy requires that any postgraduate program, including PhDs, involving foreign training or fellowships must first be approved by the ASRB.
Under this policy, UHS will establish collaborative agreements with foreign universities for students, enabling them to pursue their fellowships abroad.
Furthermore, during the meeting, three students were awarded PhD degrees in different fields of medical sciences. The PhD degrees were awarded to Dr. Atika Masood in Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology, Dr. Rabia Anjum in Oral Pathology, and Dr. Farhana Shahzad in Immunology.
Their theses were assessed by international experts, and their research has been featured in journals recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The board reviewed 36 reports on theses and considered the registration of 39 students for various postgraduate programs. The reports included work from students in fields such as Microbiology, Haematology, Immunology, Anaesthesia, and General Surgery, among others.
