The government has indicated it could lift the ban on X, formerly known as Twitter if it can establish clear rules for social media platforms.
Information Minister Azma Bokhari said on Friday that the government is not opposed to social media but wants to ensure it’s regulated. X was blocked by the government in February following allegations of election interference.
The government has previously justified the ban on X, arguing it was necessary to protect national security. Azma Bokhari noted that many other countries have laws governing social media platforms. She said that social media accounts are regulated all over the world too.
In every country laws are made to solve the problems and freedom of expression is abused. There are distorted traditions in our society. Digital terrorism is carried out through social media accounts. All accouÂnts must be governed by the rules and regulations.
Ms. Bokhari commented on the jailed founder of PTI, stating that Imran Khan is mentally distressed in prison. He is conflicted, suggesting that the army appoint a representative for talks with PTI while also claiming that Mohsin Naqvi represents the army.
She added that Imran Khan should first apologize for the events of May 9. He needs to acknowledge their actions and admit his mistake.

Twitter is a cesspool of misinformation
A joke and an insult to free speech .
There is so much misinformation on Twitter that it should be banned .
Musk made it a joke of a platform . But the he was always a joke on humanity himself .
Things which this official said herself are strictly misinformation at this point. What she shared about certain issues are pure opinion/conjecture at this point. How can conclusions be drawn before official proceedings have ended? Has mental degradation/incapacity been established officially?
So based on this, who decides about the regulations? Who’s version/vision of regulations will be correct? And speaking of other countries, even to this day, the US still struggles with how to regulate social media.
Twitter is a cesspool for misinformation
It had been used by musk and even before musk it was used to further agendas by pentagon ( exposed by Reuters , cnbc and al Jazeera ) .
Twitter had never worked to solve their issues
Why should Twitter be banned ?
1. It’s musk personal data storage he can give your data to anyone.
2. Musk used it to legitimize misinformation against anyone he hates.
3. Twitter laid off 50% of its when force without pay. They had to put a class action lawsuit against musk and his management.
4. The former head of Twitter policies had not been paid her severance package in 3 years. Former ceo of Twitter was not paid despite contractual agreement.
5. Twitter moderation staff were let go despite them being the only reason it was tolerated . They were used to fight against fake news.
6. Twitter staff is now being over worked and under paid .
There is no ethical reason to have Twitter function in Pakistan
