On Tuesday, passengers at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport once again faced flight cancellations and delays. According to a private news channel, several international and domestic flights were canceled due to technical and operational issues.
The Karachi to Islamabad flights operated by SereneAir (ER-504) and AirBlue (PA-200) have been canceled. Furthermore, the Karachi to Multan PIA flight (PK-330) was delayed by two and a half hours, and the Karachi to Peshawar SereneAir flight (ER-554) was canceled.
Moreover, flights from Karachi to Lahore with SereneAir (ER-524) and PIA (PK-306) were canceled. The PIA flight to Quetta (PK-310) faced a delay of five hours, and the AirSial flight to Lahore (PF-143) was canceled as well.
In addition, the Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Karachi to Colombo (VL-184) did not operate.
On Sunday, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) warning of potential aircraft slippage on the Jinnah Terminal runway at Karachi Airport because of the rains.
The CAA specifically highlighted runway 25L as a risk area due to possible water accumulation, which could cause slippery conditions. Pilots have been advised to be extra cautious during takeoff and landing on this and other wet runways to prevent accidents.
The CAA has also directed airlines, training institutions, and charter aviation companies to inform their pilots about these risks and ensure they receive appropriate training to manage such conditions safely.
