Data company Numbeo has published its list of the world’s cheapest cities to live in for the first half of the year, featuring three cities from Pakistan.
According to the report, Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad are among the most affordable cities globally, with Karachi being the cheapest. The report evaluates 218 cities worldwide, using New York City as a benchmark for comparing costs related to living, rent, groceries, dining, and local purchasing power.
Karachi is 81% less expensive than New York, earning the title of the least expensive city worldwide. Lahore and Islamabad are among the most affordable, ranking second and fourth, respectively.
On the other hand, Geneva has been named the most expensive city, with living costs 1.7% above those in New York. Zurich and New York City are the second and third most expensive respectively.
