The Islamabad administration has introduced stringent regulations concerning vehicle registration and number plates. The traffic police will now cancel the registration of vehicles displaying fancy and prohibited number plates.
This decision aims to ensure compliance with standard number plate regulations. The Islamabad administration has issued a notification outlining the penalties for non-compliance.
Vehicles with canceled registrations due to fancy number plates will face re-registration fines based on engine capacity: Rs. 5,000 for vehicles up to 1,000 cc, Rs. 10,000 for vehicles up to 2,000 cc, and Rs. 20,000 for vehicles exceeding 2,000 cc.
Additionally, the notification specifies that motorcycles will incur a re-registration fee of Rs. 1,000. Persistent violators will face even steeper penalties, with fines increasing to five times the initial amount for repeated offenses.
