The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Australia’s Tim Nielsen as the new high-performance coach for the Test team ahead of the Bangladesh Test series.
Tim Nielsen is a seasoned cricket coach with a wealth of experience. He has joined the support staff of red-ball coach Jason Gillespie. The duo, who have previously collaborated in South Australian cricket, are now working together to oversee the Pakistan Shaheen’s training camp. This camp is a crucial part of the team’s preparation for the Test series against Bangladesh.
The training camp for the Test series is set to commence on August 11. Pakistan will face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series, with the first Test scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi from August 21 to 25. The second Test will take place in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
In related news, the PCB selection committee has announced the national team’s and Shaheens’ squads for the upcoming matches against Bangladesh and the Bangladesh A team. A 17-member Pakistan squad has been selected for the ICC World Test Championship fixtures against Bangladesh. This squad is expected to bring a blend of experience and young talent to the series.
Additionally, the selection committee has revealed the Pakistan Shaheens squad for the upcoming four-day matches against Bangladesh-A, with Saud Shakeel appointed as captain. The first four-day match is set to begin on August 10, followed by the second on August 17. These matches will serve as a platform for emerging players to showcase their skills and stake a claim for future national team selections.
