Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) has denied media reports of not initiating hiring process for the new Vice Chancellor of the research institute.
“This is a totally baseless news. We would like to address these claims and provide clarity with factual information,” it said in a statement.
It said, “Contrary to the fake news reports, PIDE has indeed initiated the process for appointing a new Vice Chancellor well within the stipulated timeframe. As per the PIDE Act 2010, the selection process is required to commence three months prior to the completion of the current Vice Chancellor’s term. In compliance with this clause, PIDE began the process on July 8, 2024, well ahead of the deadline”.
A letter from PIDE dated July 8, 2024, to the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, confirms the commencement of the selection process, detailing the formation of the Vice Chancellor Search Committee and its composition as required by Section 12(2) of the PIDE Act 2010. This letter has been sent to the relevant authorities, ensuring transparency and adherence to the legal requirements.
PIDE hopes this clarifies the situation and assures all news agencies (print, electronic & digital) that PIDE is committed to following due process in everything, including in the selection of its new Vice-Chancellor.
