The Sindh Textbook Board has announced a new initiative to distribute free tablets to students from Grade 9 to Intermediate across Sindh. This effort aims to ensure that students can continue their studies without interruptions.
The announcement was made during an event at the Sindh Textbook Board warehouse in Karachi, attended by Chairman Abdul Aleem Lashari. Alongside the tablet distribution plan, textbooks for the upcoming academic year were also handed out.
Chairman Lashari explained that the tablets will help avoid delays and shortages in textbooks, with the first phase targeting senior students and the second phase for other grades. The ultimate goal is to transition to a paperless education system to adapt to modern demands.
The plan is pending final approval from the Chief Minister of Sindh. Currently, the distribution of free textbooks for this year is nearly complete, with around 27.5 million textbooks being distributed across 30 districts.
The first phase began on July 30, with the second phase scheduled to start on August 15. Lashari also warned that publishers who miss deadlines will face penalties.
