WhatsApp and Instagram Not Working Properly in Pakistan Due to Mysterious Issue

WhatsApp services have been down for thousands of users in Pakistan with several reporting restrictions on sharing voice notes and media (pictures and videos) since Thursday night. A similar issue has been reported with Instagram as well.

The issue has surfaced as an inconvenience for people in different parts of the country with big cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad and Karachi reporting the majority of the cases in the past 24 hours.

Many users have reported on social media and DownDetectorp, which ProPakistani confirmed earlier today, that WhatsApp media files like video, voice and images aren’t being processed/loaded as usual. Some have confirmed that they’re forced to use virtual private networks (VPNs) to send voice notes and media files.

Meanwhile, several other users have reported that WhatsApp is working smoothly and they haven’t faced any issue so far.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and most ISPs haven’t issued any clarification on why the issue has persisted for so many users in Pakistan.

This is a developing story.
