More Heavy Rainfall Predicted Across Pakistan This Week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting increased monsoon activity from the evening of August 14 through August 18, with occasional breaks. Torrential rains are expected from the night of August 14 to August 16, 2024.

A low-pressure system in northwestern India is projected to move towards central Pakistan, carrying significant moisture from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Additionally, a westerly wave is expected to approach the upper regions on August 15.

The forecast details are as follows:

Kashmir: Rain and thunderstorms, with occasional heavy falls, are anticipated in Kashmir (including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from the evening of August 14 to August 18, with occasional gaps.

Punjab/Islamabad: Rain and thunderstorms, with scattered heavy falls, are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, and Sargodha from the evening of August 14 to August 18, with occasional gaps. Rain and thunderstorms are also forecasted in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan, and Layyah from August 15 to August 18, with occasional gaps.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: Rain and thunderstorms, with scattered heavy falls, are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Dera Ismail Khan from the evening of August 14 to August 18, with occasional gaps.

Balochistan: Rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy falls, are expected in Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kalat, Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Mastung, Sibbi, Sherani, Kohlu, Bolan, Harnai, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, and along the Makran coast from August 15 to August 18, with occasional gaps.

Sindh: Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted at isolated locations in Mithi, Sanghar, Mityari, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu from the evening of August 15 to August 18, with occasional gaps. Light rain and cloudy conditions are expected along the Sindh coast during this period.

Gilgit-Baltistan: Generally partly cloudy to cloudy weather is expected. Rainfall is anticipated in Gilgit-Baltistan (including Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar) from the evening of August 15 to August 18, with occasional gaps.
