The Bangladesh team has arrived in Lahore, ahead of their much-anticipated two-match Test series against Pakistan. The team, led by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, touched down at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport amid heightened security measures.
Originally scheduled to arrive closer to the start of the series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) accepted an invitation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to bring the team to Pakistan earlier. The decision to arrive ahead of schedule was influenced by the recent unrest in Dhaka
The squad boasts a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, including stalwarts such as Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan, alongside promising young cricketers like Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam. The full squad is as follows: Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Kumar Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nahid Rana, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, and Syed Khaled Ahmed.
Upon their arrival, the team was swiftly escorted under tight security to their hotel in Lahore. They are scheduled to begin their training sessions at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium on August 14, where they will undergo three days of rigorous preparation.
After their training in Lahore, the Bangladesh squad will travel to Islamabad on August 17, where they will continue their preparations for the first Test match. The opening match of the series is set to take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, starting on August 21. The second Test is scheduled to commence on August 30 in Karachi.
This Test series holds significant importance for both teams, as they look to solidify their positions in the ICC Test ranking for the World Test Championship.
