BBL General Manager Alistair Dobson, during a recent online press conference, highlighted Rauf’s growing popularity in Australia, saying, “Haris Rauf has quickly built a strong fan base here, especially with the Melbourne Stars. We would love to see him return this year.”
Rauf has been a key player for the Stars in multiple BBL seasons, claiming 36 wickets in 22 matches with an impressive average of 16.33.
His economy rate stands at 7.75 across the 75.5 overs he has bowled in the league, with his best performance being a stunning 5/27, as noted by Cricket Australia’s website.
Dobson further praised Rauf as a prime example of South Asian talent in the BBL, emphasizing the high standard he has set with his performances. “He has proven himself as a tremendous asset for the Stars and the league as a whole,” Dobson said, adding, “South Asian players continue to captivate local fans with their extraordinary skills.”
The BBL general manager also mentioned that the league’s draft will be held in the next two weeks, with clubs actively planning to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.
