Recently, the authorities made some important decisions to address delays in passport printing.
According to sources, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has decided to acquire 20 new laminators and printers, along with five modern ARPM machines and two E-passport printers. The new equipment will enable the printing of up to 1,000 passports per hour.
With the new machinery, the daily passport printing capacity is expected to rise from 22,000 to 55,000. The passport authority has also stocked lamination papers for the next six months. The backlog is expected to begin clearing by the final week of September.
