Sindh Reopens Thousands of Closed Schools

The provincial government of Sindh has announced that schools previously closed due to a lack of teachers have now been reopened as a result of recent education reforms. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah revealed that 2,889 schools have resumed operations, and assured that no school will remain closed due to insufficient teaching staff.

He explained that a ‘Teachers Placement Committee’ was established to recommend the assignment of teachers to these previously closed schools, thereby revitalizing the teaching and learning process.

As part of the reforms, 2,587 teachers have been appointed at the taluka level to ensure teachers are available where needed. However, the reopening of 169 schools in underserved talukas remains pending due to an ongoing court case, with their fate to be determined following the court’s decision.
