In a significant move to boost digital skills among Sindh’s youth, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has unveiled a scholarship program offering 1,000 Google Career Certificates to students from 10 public universities across the province.
The announcement was made on Friday, marking a pivotal step towards enhancing the employability of local graduates in the tech sector.
The initiative was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Universities & Boards Department and Tech Valley. This collaboration aims to facilitate the distribution of these valuable certifications among students in Sindh’s public higher education institutions.
Notably, the program commits to gender equality in tech education, with 50% of the scholarships earmarked for female students. This strategic partnership between the government, educational institutions, and the tech industry represents a concerted effort to bridge the digital skills gap and prepare Sindh’s youth for the evolving job market.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, underscored the critical role of Information Technology (IT) in today’s job market. He emphasized that embracing IT skills is essential for youth seeking employment in our increasingly digital world. The IT sector offers a wide array of skills and certifications that enable individuals to earn a living from the comfort of their homes, the Chief Minister noted.
This initiative aims to equip students with internationally recognized IT certifications, enhancing their competitiveness on a global scale. By providing access to these valuable credentials, the program seeks to empower Sindh’s youth to not only secure employment but also to actively contribute to the nation’s technological advancement.
