Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has revealed the heartfelt reason of why he doesn’t allow his father to watch his cricket matches.
In a recent interview, the young pacer shared that his father’s health has been a concern, especially given the stress he experiences when the team underperforms.
“There’s so much more going on in a cricketer’s life that people don’t see,” Naseem said. “My father is facing health issues, and although he didn’t used to know much about cricket, now he watches every ball.”
He stressed upon the fact that his father gets extremely stressed while watching his cricket matches. “Before every big game, I call my brothers and tell them to make sure our father doesn’t watch. I worry it could worsen his health. It feels like I’m playing two matches at once.” he remarked.
After the 2024 T20 World Cup, Naseem took a break from the relentless demands of international cricket. He spent time honing his skills at the National Cricket Academy but also prioritized being with his family.
“Family grounds you,” Naseem reflected. “Cricket has made me who I am, but being with family reminds me that I’m more than just a cricketer I’m also a son. It’s a crucial distraction from the pressures of the game.”
Naseem emphasized that while the world recognizes him for his cricketing talent, his family keeps him connected to his true self, offering a perspective beyond the sport.
