The Balochistan government has decided to operate state-run hospitals through public-private partnerships.
In the initial phase, 10 public hospitals in the province will transition to this model. The Health Department has also issued a notification to include the Trauma Centers in Zhob and Khuzdar in this initiative.
The hospitals being changed to Public-Private Partnerships in Balochistan include the District Headquarters Hospitals in Zhob, Panjgur, Kohlu, Pashin, Khuzdar, Dera Bugti, Qalat, and Lasbela districts.
In a similar move last month, the Punjab government announced plans to outsource the management of operation theatres in public hospitals to private companies. The Punjab government has officially notified the government hospitals about this.
Under this plan, private medical firms will run operation theatres, in addition to installing and managing advanced surgical equipment, including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, endoscopy, and endo-urology devices.
The initiative is designed to upgrade surgical facilities in public hospitals, providing access to cutting-edge equipment for several medical procedures.
