Kevin Pietersen Questions Pakistan Cricket’s State Of Affairs After Bangladesh Loss

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has raised his concerns over the state of Pakistan cricket following their shocking 10-wicket loss to Bangladesh in the first Test of a two-match series in Rawalpindi.

The defeat marked Pakistan’s first-ever Test loss to Bangladesh which happened on home soil, raising eyebrows across the cricketing world.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan declared their first innings at 448/6, putting them in a strong position. However, Bangladesh responded with a massive 565, led by Mushfiqur Rahim’s stellar 191.

Despite the match initially appearing destined for a draw, Pakistan’s batting crumbled on the final day, managing only 146 in their second innings. This left Bangladesh needing just 30 runs to secure a historic victory, which they did with ease.

Kevin Pietersen, who has played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Quetta Gladiators, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disappointment.

He reminisced about the high standards and work ethic he witnessed in the PSL, questioning the current state of the game in Pakistan.

“What happened to cricket in Pakistan? When I played the PSL, the standard was tremendous… What’s happening there?” he tweeted.

Pietersen’s comments reflect a broader concern about Pakistan’s cricket trajectory, especially after such an unprecedented loss.

His observations highlight the growing pressure on the team to reassess and improve its strategies ahead of future challenges.
