OnePlus Owners Are Reporting Dead Motherboards With Costly Repairs

OnePlus users have encountered various issues in recent years, from exploding phones and chargers to the recent “green line” display problem. Now, some users of older flagship models, including the OnePlus 9 Pro and 10 Pro, are experiencing sudden motherboard failures.

Numerous reports have surfaced from users whose phones have abruptly stopped working, leaving them with unresponsive devices and black screens.

OnePlus 9 Pro motherboard issue

One OnePlus 10 Pro user reported experiencing lag and overheating before their phone died. Despite attempting various fixes, including hard resets and battery cycles, the phone remained unresponsive. A trip to the service center revealed a dead motherboard, leaving the user facing a hefty repair bill.

Another OnePlus 10 Pro 5G user reported a similar experience after downloading a software update. The phone froze, became unresponsive, and ultimately would not charge. A service center technician diagnosed the issue as a dead motherboard, resulting in a costly repair quote.

These cases appear to be part of a growing trend. Numerous users have reported similar issues online, raising concerns about the quality and reliability of OnePlus devices. While the company has yet to issue a public statement, the increasing number of reports has sparked questions about its quality control measures and customer support practices.

OnePlus users impacted by the motherboard issue are hoping for a solution from the company, such as free repairs, extended warranties, or software updates. However, it remains to be seen how OnePlus will address the growing concerns.
