The toll fee for the M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway has been increased, with the cost for a standard vehicle traveling from Lahore to Islamabad now set at Rs. 1210, up from the previous rate of Rs. 1100.
According to a private news channel, the tolls for commercial vehicles on the M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway have surged by up to Rs. 600. Specifically, the toll for a van traveling between Lahore and Islamabad is now Rs. 2030, while the cost for a coaster has increased from Rs. 2240 to Rs. 2840.
Under the newly announced tax rates, the tolls for heavy vehicles on the M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway are now set at Rs. 4060 for buses, Rs. 5280 for trucks, and Rs. 6780 for trailers. The Motorway Authority spokesperson confirmed that these updated toll rates apply to all interchanges along the M2 Motorway.
The spokesperson explained that the toll increase is part of a scheduled 10 percent annual rise as stipulated in the contract agreement. However, travelers have expressed frustration with the higher tolls, arguing that the additional costs, coupled with inflation and rising living expenses, have made travel increasingly burdensome.
In a separate incident, Motorway Police reported that four individuals were found dead in a car parked along the M2 Motorway near Bhera, while a fifth person was discovered unconscious. Later, the sole survivor of a tragic incident disclosed that they lost consciousness after eating pastries and drinking juice bought from a bakery during their trip.
